Donald Francis Davis Sr., 82, formerly a long-term resident of Orford, NH; passed away Monday, February 1, 2010 at Hanover Terrace Nursing Home after a long illness. He was born in Lyme, NH on September 19, 1927 the son of late Gerald W. and Hattie K. (Davis) Davis. He resided most of his life in Lyme, N. H. and Orfordville, N.H. Donald served in the Army during the Korean War as a paramedic driving the ambulance. He was drafted into the Army during his senior year of High School. He worked as a skilled laborer in Warren, NH for Whitcher Lumber, Co. as well as a log truck driver for Connecticut-Valley Trucking Co., of Orford, NH. In his free time he spent many hours gardening. The family includes his wife of 53 years, Ruth (Fillian) Davis of (Lebanon, NH); eight children: Valerie J. French-Simpson of VT, Donald F. Davis Jr. and his wife Amy of Delaware, Denise M. Strong and her husband Richard of N.H., Rebecca D. Davis of VT., Brent G. Davis and his wife Elizabeth of N.H., Brian A. Davis and his companion Tabetha Wild of N.H., Stacy D. Davis-Flint and her husband Terry of NH, and Tammy L. Davis of VT; as well as 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; four sisters; Louise Mack of NH, Irene Huntley of VT, Hazel Pratt of VT and Doris Morin of CA. He was predeceased by his parents Gerald and Hattie, a sister Ava Davis, a sister Marjorie Rowell and a great-grandson Johnathan E. Anzalone. Mr. Davis has requested that there be no calling hours, memorial service. The family will have a private graveside service in the spring. |
