Doris E. Bent, 78 of East Street in Charlestown died Sunday September 19, 2010 at Valley Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Doris was born on October 16, 1931 in Hillsboro, NH, the daughter of Howard and Ida (Gould) Colburn, she had lived in Charlestown for 53 years. She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Bent and Judy Karson and her husband, Derik Karson; a granddaughter, Heather Sanders and her husband, Roger; a grandson, Jason Burroughs and his wife, Heidi; six great grandchildren, Patience, Amber and Kody Sanders, Kole and Layne Burroughs all of Charlestown and Shelby Sanders of Claremont; two brothers, Phillip Colburn and his wife, Flo of Greenville, NH and Edward Colburn of Linneville, AL; her favorite ex-son-in-law, Harold Burroughs of Newport; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and many long time friends. She was predeceased by her parents; four brothers Wayne, Gene, Kenneth and Stanley; three sisters, Frances, Beverly and Peggy and her best friend, her dog Bingo. Doris retired from Grobet Files in 2002. Her favorite pastime was working and playing bingo on Wednesday’s at the VFW in Charlestown. She belonged to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Charlestown and every Memorial Day you could find her in front of Ralph’s Supermarket selling poppies. Dot loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be and already is greatly missed. There will be no visiting hours. Graveside services will be held Saturday morning, September 25th at 11AM in the Pine Crest Cemetery, off the Old Claremont Road in Charlestown, with Rev. Janice Howe of the Third Congregational Church of Alstead, NH officiating. Everyone is welcome to come to the VFW on Lovers Lane Road in Charlestown to share fond memories of Dot. |
