Edward Victor Bedard, 85, of Wheeler Avenue in Charlestown, died Thursday morning, November 11, 2010 at his home  surrounded by his family.

He was a native and nearly lifelong resident of Claremont, NH born on November 22, 1924 the son of Philip and Alberta (Langtol) Bedard.

He attended St Mary’s School in Claremont and was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Marine Corp.

Mr. Bedard retired in 1987 from Coy Paper Company where he worked as a paper maker for 39 years.

He was a member of the Charlestown Memorial Veterans of Foreign War Post  #8497.

He enjoyed reading, woodworking, cabinetry and gardening and loved cats and walking around his neighborhood and talking to everyone.

He was the widower of Monique M.(Coderre) Bedard whom he married on June 8, 1946 and she died October 27, 2009.

The surviving family includes one son, Gary Edward Bedard and his wife, Debbie of Charlestown; one brother, Philip Bedard of Alexandria, NH; one sister, Rose Alma Lithatsh of Manchester, CT; nieces, Linda and Karen Lithatsh, Beverly Pelliter and  Bonnie Brunelle Ota; nephews, George Maincent, Ronald Revoir, Armand, Robert and Donald Bedard and many other nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by numerous brothers and sisters.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning, Nov. 16th at Eleven O’clock in St Mary’s Church on Central St. in Claremont with Rev. Fr. Norman Simoneau, officiating.

Interment with full military honors provided by the Fall Mountain High School Jr.  R.O.T.C. members, will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery.
