Rev. Eric N. Lindblade, Sr. of Charlestown, NH passed away on May 28, 2010 at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Orange, MA to The Rev. Adolf Ragnar Lindblade and Viola Olivia Sundstrom Lindblade. Rev. Lindblade received his B.A. from Tufts University and his Masters in Divinity from Harvard University. He was the Senior Minister at the South Dennis Congregational Church on Cape Cod, MA and the Minister at the Congregational Church in Euclid, OH before becoming the Headmaster at the Ridgewood School in Springfield, OH and later the Headmaster of the Grymes School in Orange, VA. He was continually active in the United Church of Christ and was involved with the “1776 Black Colleges Campaign” for the Penn-Northeast Conference before coming to New Hampshire. He was the Minister of the Charlestown, NH Congregational Church, UCC and the Sullivan, NH Congregational Church, UCC until his retirement in 1996. He was the Assistant Chaplain of the NH House of Representatives for the thirteen years and was an elected Representative from Sullivan County to the New Hampshire House from 1983 to 1998.
Rev. Lindblade was active in the United Way of Northeast Ohio, a member
of the Board of Directors of the Congregational Union in Cleveland, OH
and Chairman of the Race Relations Commission in Springfield, OH. He
was a member of the first Curriculum Study Committee for Fall Mountain
Regional High School and Moderator of the Cheshire NH Association of the
United Church of Christ. For many years he served on the Board of
Trustees of the New Hampshire Conference, UCC and was a past President
of the Charlestown, NH Rotary Club. He also served for many years on
the Town of Charlestown’s Zoning Board. He was predeceased by his son John R. Lindblade in 2002. His greatest joy was to be of help to others throughout his life and he was immensely proud of his family. He was an avid gardener and historian and along with his wife Brenda often enjoyed the sea around Cape Cod and the coast of Maine. It is with grateful hearts that his family remembers the many acts of kindness by friends and the very special people of the Charlestown Office of Hospice. In honor of Rev. Lindblade’s wishes there will be no funeral service. If one chooses to do so, donations may be made in his memory to Home Healthcare, Hospice & Community Services, Arborway, Charlestown, NH 03603. The Stringer’s Charlestown Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. |
