Ernest “Ernie” J. Haley, 78, of Charlestown died on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Woodlawn Nursing Home in Newport.  He was born in Brattleboro, VT on May 25, 1932, the son of Harold and Florence Haley.

Ernie was employed with the Town of Charlestown for many years in the cemetery department and the transfer station he was also a truck driver and a logger.

He enjoyed working with work horses and going to the fairs to watch the horse pulling competition. 

The family includes one brother, Ralph Haley; three sisters, Susan Underwood, Jean Rhoades, Marlyne Tenney.

He was predeceased by one son, Harry Blake; five brothers, Harold, Jr, Robert, Theodore, Harry and William.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, September 18^th at Eleven O’clock in the morning at the Pine Crest Cemetery in Charlestown.

Arrangements are with the Charlestown Memorial Chapel.
