Fedora T. Greene, of Tengren Ave., Claremont, NH died Monday afternoon August 9, 2010 at Valley Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born in Lyndonville, VT on February 18, 1917 the daughter of Frank L. and Annie G. (Henderson) Taylor and had resided in Claremont since 1937.  She graduated from Walpole Academy.

Mrs. Greene retired in 1977 from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Windsor, VT where she worked at trimming heels and rubber hoses for twenty-two years and had previously worked as a waitress in the 30’s and early 40’s at the Pleasant Restaurant.

She was a member of the Congress of Senior Citizens and the First United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed knitting, oil painting, gardening and reading.  Her family was very dear to her.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was the widow of J. Ernest Greene whom she married on June 26, 1937 and he died Jan. 20, 1979.  She was also pre-deceased by a daughter, Sue Ann Greene on April 3, 2003, two great-grandsons, Shawn Green and Jason Thomas; a brother, Granville Gilman and three sisters, Nathalie Stone, Bernice Blanchard and Alice Kilburn.

The surviving family includes one son, Paul E. Greene and his wife, Carol of Nebraska City, NE; two grand-daughters, Paula Steinacher and Teresa Sutton and her husband Michael;  one grand-son, J. Ernest Greene, III;  eight great-grandchildren; Curtis Thomas, Megan Thomas, Keegan Birkman, J. Ernest Greene, IV, Lucas Greene, Ina Greene, Autumn Boyd and Christina Boyd also nieces, Priscille Hindmarshe, Kathleen Austin and Florence Thompson and grand nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street on Sunday evening August 15th from 6 to 8 PM

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon, August 16th at two O’clock at the First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Shinhyung Ahn officiating.

Interment will follow in Mt View Cemetery.

A reception will be held in the church hall.
