H. Victor Baron, 91, formerly of 7 Heritage Drive in Claremont, died Friday evening, September 3, 2010 at the Sullivan County Health Care.

He was a native and nearly life long resident of Claremont, born on December 31, 1918 the son of Alfred and Evelina (Descoteau) Baron.

He lived on Forest Street and West Terrace Street for many years and at Morway’s  in Charlestown for a short time.

Mr. Baron retired from the Claremont School District in 1979 as the maintenance supervisor where he worked for twenty-seven years.

He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Charlestown Knights of Columbus Council #6938.

The surviving family includes his wife of 70 years, M. Helena (Favreau) Baron, of Claremont, whom he married in May 25, 1940; one son, Richard E. Baron of Claremont; two daughters, Gloria L. Deschaine and her husband, Robert  of Claremont and Phyllis Marek and her husband Theodore  of Rock Hill, SC; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grand-children; two brothers, Arthur Baron of Claremont and George Baron of Williston, VT and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Carolyn Baron in 1948; one sister, Mrs. Eugene (Bernadette) Theroux in 2005 and two brothers, Norman Baron in 1995 and Leo Baron in 1985.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street on Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning, Sept. 7th at Eleven O’clock in St Joseph Church with Rev. Father Stanley J. Piwowar, officiating.  Interment will follow in St Mary Cemetery.
