Karl Melvin Wadleigh, 88, of Elm Street in Claremont, died Friday morning June 4, 2010 at his home. He was born in Readfield, ME on April 22, 1922 the son of Franklin Melvin and Ida Mae (Weiss) Wadleigh, Jr. He served in the US Army and was a member of the D.A.V. He lived in Windham, CT and Marlborough, CT for 15 years each and in Claremont for the past 13 years. Mr. Wadleigh worked in maintenance for the Arbor Acres Farm in Glastonbury, CT for 31 years and retired in 2000. He had previously worked at a farm in Bedford, ME and the Ken Lane Farm in Claremont. He was the widower of Geneva Armina (Fletcher) Wadleigh whom he married in June of 1946 and she died in 1979. The family includes two sons, Melvin Roland Wadleigh and his wife Ruth Elizabeth of Charlestown and Myron Alden Wadleigh of Claremont; one daughter, Marlene Avis Robinson and her husband Howard of Plymouth; five grandchildren, Joel Michael, Pam June, Myron Jr, Bobby and Melinda; twelve great-grandchildren, Jared, Dillon, Dana, Kelly, Derek, Austin, Kaitlyn, Hayley, Hunter, Michael, Brandon and Blake. He was pre-deceased by one son, Franklin in 1954. As per Mr. Wadleigh’s wishes there will be no visiting hours or funeral services. Interment will be in Mt View Cemetery. |
