Lena A. Carlisle Crowley, 91, formally of  Claremont and Charlestown, NH died Wednesday evening, March 3, 2010 at the Sullivan County Health Care Center in Unity, NH.

She was born in Saxtons River, VT, on September 24, 1918, the daughter of Albert and Phoebe (Clark) Glazier and had lived in Charlestown, most of her life. 

Lena worked as a clerk at Britts Department Store in Springfield, VT, a painter at Hampshire Manufacturing Company in Claremont.  She also owned and operated the Trading Post Diner for five years and co-owned the Trading Post Cycle Shop for 30 years both in Charlestown. NH.

She married her husband Gordon R. Carlisle on December 31, 1937 and he died on September 9, 1989 and then married William Joseph Crowley on April 20, 1992 and he died on July 21, 1997.

The family includes two daughters, Deborah Bascom and her husband, William of Claremont, Sandra Goodell of Charlestown; one brother, Bernard Clark; one daughter-in-law, Theda Carlisle of Claremont, eight grandchildren, Jessica, Christopher, Patrick, Lacey, Brenda, Linda, Willie and Peter; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by two sons, Jack Carlisle and Russell Carlisle.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 8, 2010 at Eleven O’Clock in the morning at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont with Pastor Shinhyung Ahn of the First United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will be in the spring in the Pine Crest Cemetery in Charlestown.
