Michael John Carroll, 62, of Sugar River Drive, Claremont, died unexpectedly at his home.  He was born in Claremont on October 24, 1948 the son of Gordon J. and Symola L. (Davis) Carroll. He attended Claremont Schools and graduated from Stevens High School in 1966. 

Michael served in the US Army Infantry during Vietnam receiving four Bronze Service Stars, the Army Commendation Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Good Conduct Medal.  He worked for three years with the Vermont State Police and had numerous miscellaneous jobs before joining the Claremont Police Department in 1982. In 1984, Michael joined the New Hampshire State Police and retired in 2002 as a Detective Sergeant.

Michael loved his children and granddaughter. He enjoyed sharing stories with his family and friends.

The surviving family includes his daughter; Christine Milligan and her husband, John of Ocala, FL, three sons; Jeremy Ryan Carroll and his wife, Edith, Christopher Carroll and Joshua Carroll all of Claremont; daughter, Mariah Carroll of Claremont; the children’s mother, Christina Carroll-Ayers of Claremont; two sister, Nancy McEndree and Patricia Carroll of Florida and one granddaughter, Katelin Milligan of Ocala, FL.

He was pre-deceased by two sons, Michael Carroll, Jr. and Matthew Carroll and one brother, James Carroll.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, on Sunday, November 14, 2010 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church on Main Street, Claremont on Monday, November 15th at Eleven O’clock in the morning with Pastor Kenneth LaClair, officiating.

Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Claremont with full military honors.

A reception will follow in the First Baptist Church hall.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be sent to the Claremont Savings Bank, PO Box 1600, Claremont, NH 03743 to establish a scholarship fund for his three younger children.
