Norman Leroy Prudhomme, 84, of Bible Hill Road in Claremont, died Friday afternoon October 22, 2010 at Valley Regional Hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of Claremont born on July 9, 1926 the son of Leroy and Rose (Moquin) Prudhomme. Norm graduated Valedictorian from St. Mary High School the Class of 1943 and then joined the US Navy from 1944 to 1947. He attended the University of New Hampshire and then Bentley College in Boston, MA where he received his Bachelors Degree in Accounting in 1953. Norm married Carolyn M. McKenzie on June 26, 1954. He was the senior Vice President and loan officer for Claremont National Bank and then Bankeast retiring in 1986. He was a lifetime member, past commander and finance officer of the American Legion Post 29, a member of the VFW Post No. 808 and the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks No. 879. He also was a past member of the Claremont Country Club. Norm enjoyed hunting and fishing. The family includes his wife Carolyn Prudhomme of fifty-six happy loving years together. one daughter Andrea J. Prudhomme of Dover, NH; one sister Jane Coty of Boscawen, NH and two nieces Lisa Coty and Lynn Coty. He was predeceased by his son Denis N. Prudhomme on October 17, 2007. Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Wednesday, evening October 27th from 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning, October 28th at Eleven O’clock in St Mary’s Church with Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery with military honors provided by the Claremont American Legion. A reception will follow at the Claremont Country Club.
