Paul Martin Knapp, 60, of Paddy Hollow Road, Claremont, NH, died Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Medford, MA on October 1, 1949, the son of Carl M. and Doris M. (Fortunati) Knapp and had resided in Claremont for 26 years. He had previously lived in Boston, MA and Lawrence, MA. Paul graduated from Franklin Institute and received his Masters Degree from Northeastern University. He worked for Factory Direct Flooring (Flat Rock, Tile and Stone) for 15 years, the US Postal Service for 15 years in Lawrence and Claremont and retired July 22nd . Paul was a member of the Board of Directors for 6 years of the Fiske Free Library, current member of the City of Claremont’s Master Plan Historic Resource Committee, past president of the Local Postal Union, a member of the Libertarian Party, involved with Boy Scouts, Young American Bowling Alliance, and was previously a free lance writer for the Eagle Times Bowling Column. The surviving family includes his wife, Patricia G. (Galbraith) Knapp of Claremont whom he married on Oct. 10, 1975; three sons, Wesley M. Knapp and his wife, Heather L. of Hurlock, MD, Randall S. Knapp of Queeche VT, and Kevin P. Knapp of Granby, MA; two grandchildren, Sidney Louise and Bella Marie; his mother and step-father Doris M. and Charles E. Crosbie of Bedford; two brothers, and three sisters, Gerard M. Knapp and his wife, Susan of Parish, FL, Lois Kelly and her husband Robert of Brandon, FL, Charles Crosbie and his wife Paula of Milton, NH, Patricia Apigian and her husband Manuel of Warren, VT and Elaine Blankenship and her husband Richard of Durham, NC also several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his father, Carl M. Knapp in 1971. Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning, Oct. 4th at Eleven O’clock in St Mary’s Church with Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery, The family suggests that donations may be made in his memory to the Fiske Free Library, 108 Broad Street, Claremont, NH 03743. |
