On November 7th, 1950, the world became a happier place.  That was the day that Philip was born.  On the morning on December 5th, 2010, the world lost this whimsical spirit.  Though many will mourn his loss, anyone who knew him, will smile when they think of him.  Philip was a wonderful husband, son, brother, uncle, son-in-law, and Friend.  He was proud of his ability to make everyone laugh, regardless of the situation.  He was very protective of his family as well as anyone he considered a friend.

Philip attended schools in Newport and Goshen-Lempster.  He worked numerous jobs from making apple cider and maple syrup to security positions and correctional officer.  He ran the “Chestnut Street Grocery” while also working as a call firefighter for the Claremont Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kathy (Crossman) Couitt of Claremont; his mother Alfreda Couitt of Unity, NH; his brothers Robert and Richard Couitt, both of Claremont; his sisters Brenda Beebe of Springfield, VT., Debra Couitt of Newport, NH; Cathy Paradis of Claremont; and Bonnie Gales of Lempster, NH.  In addition, Philip was adored by several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews and he loved his extended family on the Crossman side.

Philip is predeceased by his father Phillip Couitt; his brothers Henry Couitt, Gerard Couitt, Edward Couitt in 2001, Jack Beyor in 1996, and his sister Gail Serem in 2008.
