Robert Camille DeCook, 78, of Orchard Road in Claremont, died at his home Saturday evening, February 20, 2010.

He was born in Manchester, NH on February 25, 1931 the son of Camille and Emma (Wheeler) DeCook.  He was raised in Gilford, CT and graduated from Gilford High School and had resided in Claremont since 1952.

He was in the reserve of the 388 Battalion of the Army Corps of Engineers for a short time, worked as a service engineer at J&L Machine Company and retired in 1990 from Split Ball Bearing currently Timken’s Bearings in Lebanon where he worked as product sales manager for thirty years.

He enjoyed the outdoors especially skiing, tennis, fishing, hunting, working on his car and always helping his neighbors.

He was a member of the Personnel Advisory Board for the City of Claremont and was an honorary member of the Stevens High School Class of 1946.

 The surviving family includes his wife, L. Barbara (Houpis) DeCook of Claremont whom he married on June 7, 1952, nieces and nephews including John A. DeCook of Newport.

He was pre-deceased by his brother, John W. DeCook.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning, February 26th at Eleven O’clock at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street with Rev. Priscilla Hull, officiating.

Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Friday morning from 10 to 11 AM prior to the services. A reception will follow.

Interment will be private on Saturday in Union Cemetery.
