Robert Decker Woodman, 70, of Red Water Brook Road in Claremont, former long time councilman in Claremont, died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at his home. He was a native and life long resident of Claremont, born on January 3, 1940 the son of Kenneth Heaton and Gretchen Armida (Decker) Woodman. He was a graduate of Stevens High School in the Class of 1958 and attended the University of New Hampshire, Thompson School of Agriculture. Robert was a farmer in the 60 -70’s and ran the family dairy farm and at one time had 700 pigs. He also operated Woodman Construction for 45 years. Bob served twenty years on the Claremont City Council, served on the Executive Board of Granite State Designers and Installers and the NH/VT Solid Waste, was a member of the Sullivan County Farm Bureau, the Claremont Conservation Commission, the Claremont Planning and Zoning Board and the Joint River Commission. His surviving family includes his wife of over forty years, Mary Elizabeth (Picknell) Woodman; two sons, Charles Woodman and his wife April, Stephen Woodman and his wife Kelly; four grandchildren, Erin, Tyler, Samantha and Evan all of Claremont; also aunts and cousins. Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday morning, Jan. 22nd at Eleven O’clock in the Union Episcopal Church with Rev. Marthe F. Dyner, Rector officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery.
