Terry L. Gobin, 56, of 126 Hanover Street Claremont NH passed away at Dartmouth Hitchcock Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family on January 26, 2010. Terry was born in Claremont NH June 9, 1953 the son of the late Clayton W. Gobin (Bill) and Arlene (Beaulieu) Gobin, (Honey). He resided in Claremont most of his adult life.

He went to Claremont elementary schools and then moved to Newport with his Dad and went on to Newport High School. In 1974 he joined the Navy and was released do to medical reasons with an Honorable Discharge. He then moved back to Claremont and worked for several years at Joy Foundry and then 24 years at the Sullivan County Nursing Home in maintenance. Terry loved working there and sharing a smile with all the residents. His greatest gift to those that knew and loved him was his humor and making smiles turn to laughter. Even when he was struggling with cancer last year he would find some way of making light of everything. The doctors and nurses at DHMC said they looked forward to his visits because his humor had a way of brightening even their day. While he was in DHMC this last time his cancer doctors and nurses came in especially to see him and ask, as we all did, what happened? No one knows at this point why Terry had to leave us but you can bet he took a small piece of all our hearts with him when he left. He even befriended a young clergy gentleman while in the hospital this summer. Since last seeing Terry the young man moved to New Jersey and once he heard of Terry’s condition he called the family to say what a wonderful person Terry was. This was indeed the impact he had on those around him.

He was a member of The American Legion Post 29, Elks Club, Moose and the Polish Club.

His family includes his wife and best friend of 32 years, Donna (Dewey) Gobin, daughters Tara Gregory of Unity, Felicia Lallo of Claremont, Samantha Stone of Concord, NH and Amanda Gobin of Unity. Sisters Donna A. Gobin of Lempster, Roxanne Johnson of Cornish, Rebecca St. Pierre of Charlestown, brothers Kevin Gobin of Ascutney, VT, Brian Gobin of Claremont, Billy Gobin of Newport, Larry Gobin of Claremont, Joseph Russo of Boston, MA and Tom Silver of Greenfield MA, a step sister Tiffany Starks of Etna, NH and step brother Michael Currier as well as his step mother Joyce Gobin.
