On March 22, 2011, Maureen Elizabeth (Hendricks) Davis, was granted her angel wings. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family and the loving caregivers that had been with her for her two year battle with a rare neurological disease. Maureen was born December 28, 1946 in Fairlawn, NJ. Her parents were John and Mary Hendricks. Ms. Davis is survived by her husband, of forty-two (42) years, Thomas R. Davis, one daughter Kimberly Anne Fellows, her husband Ricky Fellows, two grandchildren, Lauren Nicole Fellows and Jackson Davis Fellows all of Claremont, NH. Maureen was educated in the Fairlawn, NJ school system, graduated from Bryant University in Providence, RI in 1966 with a degree in Advanced Secretarial Science. She worked as the secretary to the owner of a large real estate firm in NJ for two years prior to her marriage, and briefly at the RI School of Design in Providence, RI before the birth of her daughter. After living in New Jersey for four years after her marriage, Maureen moved back to Claremont with her husband and daughter in the fall of 1974. For the twenty years prior to her illness, Maureen was the office manager of her husband’s financial planning practice, Davis Financial Resources, in Claremont. Maureen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved shopping with her grandchildren for clothes and all the other little things children desire. Maureen enjoyed traveling and seeing new sites and countries, During her lifetime, she was able to explore all of the continents but one, but her favorite area was Italy, where she visited several times. Her favorite trip was to take part in a cooking school in Tuscany. She enjoyed cooking with her husband and had several varied ethnic specialties. Maureen also enjoyed gardening, and was an extensive reader. Maureen was a member of the League of Women Voters and was supervisor of the check list for Ward I in Claremont and worked for many years at the various elections in Claremont. She was a member of the Emblem Club and APK Sorority. Maureen’s life would seem too short to many, but her life was full of adventure and continual new experiences. Those that were touched by her understood that quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her enthusiasm, warm smile, and willingness to be involved will be missed. But the memories of this loving and kind person will last forever. Friends and Family may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad St, Claremont on Friday evening April 1st, from 6 to 8. Funeral services will be Saturday April 2nd at the First Congregational Church, 72 Pleasant Street, Claremont at 11am with Rev. Donna Gage officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Sutton, NH. The family suggests donations can be made in her memory to the Sullivan County Humane Society, PO Box 111, Claremont, NH 03743. |
