Aristedes "Bill" Rego, of 14 Olympus Place, Claremont, NH passed away peacefully Wednesday morning on June 22nd at his home, surrounded by his wife, children, and granddaughter. He was born in St. Michael, Azores on August 18, 1929, the son of Antone V. and Lena (Linhares) Rego. He resided in So. Dartmouth, MA for 44 years and in Claremont since 1989. Mr. Rego was a truck driver for Harriet Transportation in New Bedford, MA for thirty years and later worked part time for Tilcon for 3 years, retiring 1986. Since retirement he and his wife spent winters in Zolfo Springs, FL where he played his guitar everyday. While back in Claremont, his pleasures were working in his garden, playing guitar with his friends and socializing at the Claremont McDonald's every morning for breakfast. He also attended Claremont's Relay for Life for the past several years where he could be seen walking the track with his favorite long walking stick in his Cancer Survivors T-shirt. His surviving family includes his wife Tina (DeMello) of Claremont whom he married on September 3, 1949; one son Lawrence M. Rego and his wife Michele of Charlotte, NC; one daughter, Bonita Miles and her husband, James of Claremont; four grandchildren, Joel Pickering of Newport, Jon Pickering of Derry, Christopher Pickering of Bradford, NH, and Christina Molly Rego of Atlanta, GA.; four great-grandchildren and was awaiting the birth of his 5th grandchild due this summer; his brother, Mario Rego of Mattapoisett, MA; and his sister, Lillian Butterworth of Tiverton, RI.
