Barbara Alice Lafayette, 77, died Monday June 20, 2011, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center surrounded by her family.

She was born in Bethel, VT on May 15, 1934 the daughter of Royal and Celia (Ornsby) Wallace and had resided in the Claremont, NH and Springfield, VT area.

Barbara married Leroy Lafayette on July 4, 1953 and he died January 8, 1993.

She loved history, antiquing, reading books, hiking, gardening and singing.

She was a big Red Sox fan. Barbara enjoyed planning and executing wonderful family adventures.  She loved her family very much.

The family includes three daughters, Barbara Hilerio of Westmoreland, NH;

Debra Ball of Rutland, VT and Heidi Greenwood of Charlestown, NH; two sisters, Maybelle Long of Bellows Falls, VT and Muriel LaPointe of Brentwood, NH; one brother, John Wallace of St. Cloud, FL; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Royal Wallace and a sister, Avis Giguere.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, June 24^th at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont at 2PM.

Visiting hours will be held from 1 to 2 PM prior to the funeral service.

Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
