Calla Louise Richards, 99, formerly of Claremont, died Monday, morning, April 18, 2011 at The Seasons at Summercrest in Newport.

She was born in Champaign, IL on July 24, 1911 the daughter of Frank A. and Minnie M. (Maguire) Blaisdell.

Calla was a full-time homemaker and a prize-winning bowler.  She had lived in many locations including Kankakee, IL, Edina, Minn and Maitland, FL before moving to Claremont.

She was the widow of Harry F. Richards whom she married on July 6, 1935 and he died on December 22, 1992.

The family includes one son, Richard F. Richards and his wife Joyce of Fayetteville, Ark; one daughter, Joyce Higgins and her husband Charles of North Charlestown; grandchildren and their spouses, Judith and Kenneth Yurek of Manor, PA, John Wallaert of Austin, TX, Suzanne and Joshua Baltzell of Palto Alto, CA, Robert and Alisson Richards of Jericho, VT and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Calla was predeceased by her five siblings.

There will be no visiting hours.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in Roselawn Cemetery in Champaign, IL.
