Clifton Edwin LaBounty, Jr., 68, of Page Road in Newport, NH died Wednesday Morning October 12, 2011, at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. He was born in Claremont, NH on June 23, 1943 the son of Clifton Edwin and Violet Pearl (Blaine) LaBounty. He attended Claremont Schools. Clifton served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was self-employed having retired from the scrap metal business. He owned and raced cars at Claremont Speedway. He was an avid fisherman and a jack of all trades. He loved animals, especially his dog, Bubb. He enjoyed meeting people and helping them when he could. With the help of the Kairos, he came to know the love of Christ which changed his life. He will be sorely missed by all who were close to him. He married his childhood sweetheart, Edith M. ”Peanut” Butler, they were married for 43 years. She passed away on July 24, 2006. The family includes his only child, Clifton E. ”Little Chubby” LaBounty, III and his wife, Pamela of Claremont; two grandchildren, Joseph LaBounty and his partner, Matt Phanuef and Nicole LaBounty and her wife, Jeanette; three siblings, Ginger Thibault, Amanda Thatcher and Raymond LaBounty; his companion, Pat Mosley; also many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, grandparents and one sister, Vivian Colby. A Memorial Service will be held Monday afternoon October 17th at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont at 3pm. Visiting hours will be from 1 to 3 prior to the service.
