David Pavlik, 69, of Province Road in Goshen, NH died Thursday, June 30, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Cornish, NH on September 1, 1941, the son of John and Ruth (Bloom) Pavlik, Jr. He was a graduate of Towle High School, Newport, NH and attended the University of New Hampshire. He was a member of the NH National Guard. He was employed for thirteen years at Kathan Gardens as a landscaper and for thirty-three years at Sturm Ruger as a machine operator. He was most proud that he and his wife, Phyllis, retired hand-in-hand the same day, September 15, 2006, from Sturm Ruger. He was a member of the American Legion and a volunteer keeping the town of Goshen clean until failing health prevented him from doing so. David was an avid reader of history focusing on World War II. He enjoyed watching the History Channel, World War II movies and Sprint Cup Racing. He was a great cook, enjoyed cooking for his friends and families, especially on holidays. He kept his yard well manicured and landscaped and enjoyed eating out and “Jack on the Rocks” and jelly beans. His hobbies included his plants and his vegetable garden, woodworking, mainly his beautifully handcrafted wooden bowls, plates, cutting boards, many of which he donated to fundraising auctions. Surviving family members include his wife of twenty-three years, Phyllis C. Pavlik; five children, Kelley Homiller, Katie Klaus, Lori Stillson, Tammy McElreavy and Tom Stillson; his “girl” Cathy Gerlach; a brother, Donald Pavlik and sisters, Margaret Pluta, Sandra Darling and Cathy Buckland. Eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 2PM in the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, NH with Pastor Scott Kearns of the Grace River Church officiating. Visiting hours will be held from 1 to 2 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Olive G. Pettis Public Library, 36 Mill Village Road, Goshen, NH 03752 David was a strong-willed and courageous man, a loyal and loving husband and father. He was a hardworking man his entire life and asked for nothing. He is already missed more than words can say. We love him. |
