Genevieve Agnes Chartier, 84, of 4000 Barbary Lane in North Port, FL died Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the Bay State Medical Center in Springfield, MA following a sudden illness. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 1, 1927 the daughter of William and Bride (Sullivan) Mansfield. She had previously lived in Claremont, Meriden, CT, East Hartford, CT and Palm Beach Gardens, FL. She resided in Florida since 1977 and was currently living in North Port, FL. Genevieve was a former member of St Mary’s Church and St Joseph Church both in Claremont, San Pedro Church, San Pedro Craft Club and San Pedro Guild and the Senior Center all of North Port, FL. She was a loving, devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother with whom she dedicated her life to. She lived for the moments to spend with her family. The surviving family includes her husband, Wayne Leewood Chartier, Sr. of North Port, FL whom she married on March 24, 1947 and enjoyed 64 ˝ years of wedded bliss; one son, Wayne Leewood Chartier, Jr. of Corona, CA; two daughters, Sandrann Parker of Crescent City, FL and April Puryear of North Palm Beach, FL; five granddaughters, Genevieve Dufresne-Toupal, Brigitte Dufresne, Jennifer Dufresne, Ashley Dufresne and Allison Dufresene; one grandson, Wayne L. Chartier, III; seven great-grandchildren, Jordan (by love), Natalie, Allison, Jon, Domonique, Savannah and Maddox; one brother-in-law, William M. Chartier; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by four brothers, William B. Mansfield, Leo Mansfield, James Mansfield, and Joseph Mansfield and two sisters, Johanna “Naoma” Kenny and Dorothy Gushue. Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont, NH on Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning, Sept. 27th at Eleven O’clock in St Joseph Church in Claremont, with Rev. Father Stanley J. Piwowar, officiating.
