Helena Baron, 92, formerly of 7 Heritage Drive in Claremont, died Saturday evening, June 25, 2011 at the Sullivan County Health Care. She was a native and nearly lifelong resident of Claremont, born on July 21, 1918 the daughter of Adelard and Alice (Fontaine) Favreau. She lived on Forest Street and West Terrace Street for many years and at Morway’s in Charlestown for a short time. Helena worked as a nurse’s aid for the Sullivan County Nursing Home and she retired in 1978 after 12 years. She also worked in the Stevens High School cafeteria as well as the Claremont General Hospital cafeteria. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics, knitting and music. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society of Claremont and the St. Catherine’s Ladies Club of Charlestown. Helena and H. Victor married on May 25, 1940 and he died Sept. 3, 2010. The surviving family includes one son, Richard E. Baron of Claremont; two daughters, Gloria L. Deschaine and her husband, Robert of Claremont and Phyllis Marek and her husband, Theodore of Rock Hill, SC; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grand-children and one sister, Beverly Joyal and her husband, Rene of Nashua also several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Carolyn Baron in 1948 and one sister, Loretta (Favreau) Lambert on April 28, 2010. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday June 28th from 6-8 PM at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church on Wednesday morning, June 29th at 11:00AM, with Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Claremont.
