John Harold Soboll, 93, of Hillside Terrace and formerly of River Road in Claremont, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the New London Hospital. He was a native and life long resident of Claremont, NH born on January 5, 1918 the son of Stephen and Anna (Ankuda) Soboll. John had served in World War II as a Merchant Marine where he had served on seven different major ships. He had worked as a self-employed contractor for fifty years and had retired in 1965 and had previously worked for Fellows Gear Shaper, Cone Blanchard and Joy Manufacturing. John was a member of the American Legion Post #29, was an avid hunter and loved boats, fishing and gardening. He was the widow of Shirley Elizabeth (Mason) Soboll whom he married on June 30, 1938 and she died on June 23, 2007 they had been married for 68 years. The surviving family includes one daughter, Sandi Clark of Concord; two grandsons, Wallace Carmichael of VA, Jeffrey Carmichael of Concord; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Edward Soboll of Claremont, Zenon Soboll of Methuen, MA; four sister, Adella Barca of Alabama, Alice Bond of Southwick, MA, Ida Soucise of Keene, Wanda Perras of Claremont, several nieces and nephews. There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 27th at Eleven O’clock in the morning at St. Mary’s Church with Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. |
