John Stankevich, Jr., 46 of Camden Ave., in Claremont, NH, died Tuesday,  December 27, 2011at his home.

He was born on March 25, 1965 in Springfield, VT, the son of John and Carla (Spicer) Clarke Stankevich, Sr.

He attended schools in Southern New Hampshire.

John retired in 1995 from Salem Sportswear where he worked as a silkscreen printer.

Johnny endured many years of physical disabilities with great courage, selflessness and humor.  He was passionate, tenacious and fought for his family, friends, causes and beliefs.  Johnny was a devoted and protective father, grandfather and uncle.  He enjoyed children’s company and shared their curiosity of all things.  He loved to socialize and being part of a crowd of family, friends, or acquaintances.   He was very proud of his Russian heritage and missed the fiery and spirited family gatherings of his youth.

Johnny’s quick wit, playful joking and hearty laugh will always be remembered and make us smile.  His vibrant spirit will be sorely missed.

John was a member and Past Governor of Claremont Moose Lodge #1201, and a member of Burlington, VT Moose Lodge #1618,  Assistant Secretary of Moose Legion #92 and President of Northeast Moose Association.  He also achieved the Moose Fellowship Degree.

The surviving family includes his wife, Lynda (Johnson) Stankevich whom he married in April of 2001;  one daughter, Cassandra Stankevich and beloved  granddaughter, Natalee Marie Grenier all of Claremont;  two stepsons, Michael Clogston and his wife, Abby Berge of Bradford, VT and James  Clogston and his wife, Jaime of Claremont; two sisters, Rhondalyn Leclair and her husband, Rodney of Winchester  and Beverley Butler and her husband, Steve of Derry; three brothers, Robert Magill and his wife, Tammy of Bellows Falls, VT, Clifford Magill of Manchester, NH and Randy Stankevich and his wife, Robin of Claremont;  ten step-grandchildren and fifteen nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Friday evening from 5 to 7 PM.

The Loyal Order of Moose will hold services on Friday evening at 6:30 PM at the Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, Dec. 31st at Eleven O’Clock in the Funeral Home with Fr. Peter Carmichael, Rector of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church of Springfield, VT, officiating.

Interment will be in Oakland  Cemetery at a later date.
