Kathleen (Kay) Wallace, 90, of Charlestown NH, passed away Sunday, May 29 at Genesis Keene Center after a brief illness.
She was born and raised in Charlestown, NH, the daughter of Harry and Myrtle (Alexander) Spaulding.

She graduated from Charlestown High School in 1940 where she was an avid basketball player through her school years. She was married to George Wallace of Charlestown.

After becoming a widow in 1962, while raising two young children, Kathleen became a cook at Young’s Diner and then went on to waitress at The Indian Shutter’s Restaurant before retiring.  She was an active member of the South Parish Unitarian Church in Charlestown helping with church suppers, bazaars, yard sales and the yearly Christmas Pageant.  Kathleen was known for her knitting skills always making mittens, slippers and other requests for her grandchildren, there was no project she wouldn't try. Kathleen’s greatest joy and love were her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Kathleen is survived by two children, a son, Gary Wallace of Charlestown, a daughter in law, Joanne Wallace of Charlestown; a daughter, Carolyn (Wallace) Szoc of Keene and her husband, Paul; two step sons, Donald Wallace and his wife, Myrna of West Valley, Utah and Norman Wallace and his wife, Betty Raye of Flint, Texas; four grandchildren; Michelle (Wallace) Leavitt and her husband, Marc of Hopkinton, Joseph Wallace of Keene, Darrah Szoc of Penacook and Devin Szoc and his wife, Kate of Northfield, Mass; two great grandchildren, Nathaniel Leavitt of Dover and Sonja Leavitt of Hopkinton; one sister, Priscilla White and her husband, Charles of Charlestown along with many nieces and nephews.  Kathleen was predeceased by her husband, George; a brother, Robert Spaulding and a sister, Elizabeth Henshaw.


A memorial service will be held Saturday June 18 at 11:00 am at the South Parish Unitarian Church on Main Street in Charlestown. A burial will follow immediately after the service at the Forest Hills Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the South Parish Unitarian Church C/O Charles White, PO Box 361, Charlestown, NH 03603.
