Rachel M. Therrien Robinson, 80, formerly of 67 Maple Avenue, died Saturday evening March 5, 2011 at the Elm Wood Center at Claremont. She was born in October 1, 1930 the daughter of Harvey A. and Beulah L. (Randall) Short and was raised in Weathersfield, VT and had lived in Claremont since 1947. She was a 1949 graduate of Stevens High School. She retired in 1997 from the Earl Bourdon Center after seven years as the receptionist. Rachel had previously worked for Valley Regional Hospital in the housekeeping department and the Dartmouth Woolen Mill as a burler for three years. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church. She is the widow of her first husband William C. Therrien Sr. who died on September 13, 1983. The family includes two sons, William Therrien “ Sonny” Jr. and his wife Kim; Bruce Therrien and his partner Helen Reed both of Claremont, NH; four daughters, Rachel Paquette and her husband Roland of Wilton, NH; Carol Kangas and her husband Richard of South Acworth, NH, Dianne Swinyer and her husband Gary of Charlestown, NH and Donna Hallock and her husband Fred of Lisbon, NH; two brothers, Forrest Short of Arizona and George Short of Charlestown, NH; two sisters, Marjorie Schafer of Springfield, VT and Dorothy Bashaw of Rockingham, VT; eighteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter; also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by one sister, Beulah Johnson. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening March 9th from 6 to 8pm at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, NH. A celebration of her life will be held at 11am on Thursday morning, March 10th at the First Baptist Church, Main and Central Street, Claremont, NH with Pastor David Crosby and Pastor Scott Kearns, co-officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
