Raymond Allen Cornish, 69, of Delores Street in Newport, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at the Elm Wood Center in Claremont.

He was born in Hartford, CT on January 10, 1942 the son of Floyd E. and Lillian M. (Lavoie) Cornish.

He was the produce department manager at Cricenti’s in New London and Hillsborough and previously for Dixon’s and Violette’s in Newport and First National in Claremont and Lebanon, NH.

Raymond was an avid hunter and fisherman and had a large collection of Budweiser steins.

The surviving family includes his wife, Shirley A. (Kimball) Cornish of Newport, whom he married on May 11, 1963; one daughter, Lisa Cross and her husband, David of Charlestown; one son, Raymond Cornish, Jr. of Newport; five grandchildren, Ashley, William, Stephanie, Steven, Nicole; one great granddaughter, Lauren; two brothers, Floyd E. Cornish and his wife, Sandy and Robert C. Cornish both of New Mexico;  four sisters, Kathleen M. Derosier and her husband, Robert, Eileen Thompson and her husband, Nathan, Ellen St. Pierre and her husband, John, Lynn M. Ferland and her husband, Dennis all of Claremont and his kitty, Angel.

He was pre-deceased by one brother, Richard Brian Cornish and one sister, Carol A. Hiltunen.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, December 13, 2011 at Eleven O’Clock in the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, NH, with Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien, Pastor of St. Mary Church, officiating. 

Visiting hours will be held from 10-11 prior to the service.

Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
