Ruth Aileen King, 94, formerly of Eaton St., Charlestown, NH, died Friday, September 9, 2011 at the Holy Trinity Nursing Home in Worcester, MA.

She was born July 7, 1917 in Rutland, VT, the daughter of Nelson L. and Edna M. (Hathaway) Beldon and lived there until age 5, moving to Brandon, VT where her parents had purchased a dairy farm. Ruth was educated in the Brandon public school system, was a 1935 graduate and attended Castleton Normal School, receiving her degree in 1937.  Later, she received a Bachelor of Science in Education and continued her studies for a Masters Degree.  She married her husband, William H. King on May 6, 1950 and he died on May 31, 1997.

Ruth retired in 1981 after forty-two years of teaching in elementary grades in Leicester, Brandon, Brownsville and Westminster, VT and Charlestown and North Walpole, NH.

She was an active member of the Charlestown Congregational Church, the Charlestown Garden Club, Various New Hampshire and Vermont Retired Teachers Associations and a former member of Business Professional Women of Claremont, NH. 

The family includes one daughter, Kallie A. Knight of Charlestown, NH; four grandsons and one granddaughter, four great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce Keeler Grenier-Smith on January 27, 1979; one son, Edward Keeler on June 26, 2007, five brothers and three sisters.                                       

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 1PM in the Charlestown Congregational Church on Main Street Charlestown NH with Rev. Susan Grant Rosen Pastor officiating.

A reception will follow in the church hall pine room.  

Burial will be held privately at a later date in Pine Hill Cemetery, Brandon, VT.  Arrangements are with the Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main St. Charletown, NH.
