Shirley Mae Gierko, 73, of Pleasant Street, Claremont, NH, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Elwood Center of Claremont.

She was a native and life long resident of Claremont, NH, born on June 23, 1937, the daughter of C. John and Pearl E. (Henry) Young.

She attended schools in Claremont and later worked at M.H. Fishman and was a homemaker and provided day care.  Shirley loved to cook, gardening, roses and praying the rosary.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church.

The surviving family includes her husband, Chester M. Gierko of Claremont, whom she married on July 12, 1969; a daughter, Debra Gierko of Lowell, MA; a brother, John Young of Fox River Grove, IL; a sister, Barbara Carroll of Madison, CT and nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning, June 6^th at Eleven o’clock in St. Joseph Church with Rev. Fr. George Majka, Pastor, officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Claremont, NH.
