Thomas A. Hynes, 81, of West Unity, NH, died Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

He was born in New York City, NY on October 15, 1929 the son of the late Michael and Rose (Drake) Hynes and was one of five children.

Thomas was raised in the Bronxs and graduated in 1947 from St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 18 on August of 1948 and was a four year veteran having served three years in Germany and obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant.  Upon his discharge in July 1952, he soon began a 32 year career with NY Telephone Company and AT&T retiring in June of 1984.

Thomas moved from Deer Park, NY in 1987 to West Unity and was proud of the fact that his two sons built the house that his wife and he resided in.

The surviving family includes his loving and devoted wife, Josephine Ann (Frankowski) Hynes whom he married on February 14, 1953; four children, his son, Thomas Hynes and his wife, Sherri of Newark Valley, NY, his daughter, Gail Kropp and her husband, John of West Babylon, NY, his daughter, Deborah Logerfo and her husband, Ronald of Charlestown, his son, Robert Hynes and his wife, Gail of Charlestown; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, William Hynes of Branford, CT; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Katherine Austin and Eileen Keegan; one brother, Michael Hynes.

Visiting hours will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, NH on Sunday, June 26, 2011 from 6-8PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 27th at Eleven O’clock in St. Joseph’s Church, Claremont, NH with Rev. Stanley J. Piwowar, officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Charlestown, NH.
