Barbara Grace Belisle, 91, of Sullivan Street, Claremont, NH, died Monday, January 30, 2012 at Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont.

She was a native and nearly life-long resident of Claremont, born on December 29, 1920, the daughter of Leonard J. and Grace L. (Clark) Gould.

She was a graduate of Stevens High School in the Class of 1938 and attended Margaret Pillsbury School of Nursing in Concord, NH and was a licensed practical nurse.  She worked at the Claremont General Hospital for a short time and for Dr. James Skillen for twenty-one years.  She and her husband, Raymond, wintered in Lakeland, Florida for twenty-one years.

Barbara was a member of the AARP, the “Circle Eight” square dance group and enjoyed RV camping, knitting, sewing, rug hooking and her many grand and great-grand children.

She was the widow of Raymond John Belisle whom she married on August 30, 1941 and he died on January 10, 1999.

The family includes one son, Allen R. Belisle of Charlestown; three daughters, Carole E. Ferland of North Charlestown, Barbara A. Desharnais of Claremont and Pamela G. Holt of Hooksett; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Rev. Elmer C. Gould who died in 2006 in California and two sisters, Marilyn Gould at age twelve and Virginia Gould as an infant. 

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 4th at 11:30AM in the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont with Rev. Fr. Stanley J. Piwowar, officiating. Visiting hours will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the service.

Interment will be held in the spring in The West Claremont Burying Grounds, Claremont, NH.
