Carrie Madelyn McAlpine, 93, of Maple Avenue in Claremont, NH, died Sunday morning, March 18th at Valley Regional Hospital. She was born in Newport, NH on May 16, 1918 the daughter of Albert Dodd and Marjorie (Hurd) Paul. Carrie had resided in Claremont since 1978 and previously resided in Michigan City, Indiana from 1953-1978. She attended Towle High School in Newport and Manchester Central High School. She had worked as a bookkeeper for Sears in Concord, NH, was a secretary for Joy Manufacturing Company for five years and as a secretary of the Northern Indiana Public Service in Michigan City, IN for eight years. Carrie was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Vivians #432, Emblem Club #26, the National Federation of Republican Women, the American Association of Retired Persons, the Congress of Claremont Senior Citizens and the Earl Bourdon Center Resident. She is the widow of Bryant E. McAlpine, whom she married on July 2, 1942 and he passed away on June 1, 1986. She enjoyed her family and had many friends, she loved music, to dance, travel, eating out and life. The family includes one brother, Richard Rossiter and his, wife Edie of Croydon; two sisters, Patricia Osgood of Claremont and Florida, and Catherine Thurston of Newport, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Robert Rossiter in 2003; two sisters, Betty Pierce in 2008 and Charlotte Lessard in 2006. As per her request there will be no funeral services. The family suggests that memorial donations can be made in her memory to the Earl M. Bourdon Center, 67 Maple Avenue, Claremont, NH 03743. |
