Claire Kowalczyk of West Terrace Street, Claremont, died Friday afternoon March 16, 2012 at her home. She was a native of Claremont, NH the daughter of Louis and Vera (Davis) Lizotte. She was a graduate of Stevens High School and was very involved in the alumni association attending the banquet and parade each June. Each Monday Claire would have lunch with a group of women with whom she graduated. They called their group “the Golden Girls”. Claire Kowalczyk enjoyed careers as a home maker, clerk, and truant officer for the Claremont School System. She held positions with the local AARP chapter, Catholic Daughters, and Circle of Home and Family (UNH Cooperative Extension). Claire enjoyed traveling, reading biographies, baking, sewing, knitting, and was a noted photographer. Claire married her husband of over fifty years, Stanly Kowalczyk on August 17, 1946. Stanley passed away in October 1998. Claire is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Nancy-Jean Cusanelli, three grandchildren, Michael Cusanelli, Jennifer Gagnon, and Heather Capelli, and six great grandchildren, Jacob, Clara, and Hayden Cusanelli, Elyse and Gavin Capelli, and Jean Gagnon. She was preceded in death by one son, Brian S. Kowalczyk, November 7, 1986, one sister, Irene, and three brothers Louis, Clifford, and Edward. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning March 23rd at 11:00am in St Joseph Church with Rev. Stanley J. Piwowar, officiating. Burial will follow in St Mary Cemetery. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Sullivan County Humane Society. |
