James Edward McClellan, 71, of Broad Street in Claremont, NH died  Monday morning, May 14, 2012 at Valley Regional Hospital.

He was born in Gardner, MA on May 11, 1941, the son of Francis M. and Ethel L. (Hauver) McClellan.

James had previously lived in Londonderry for 3 years and Nashua for 20 years and had resided in Claremont since 2003.

He was veteran of the United States Air Force.

James worked for Granite State Sewer for 3 years as an office manager and retired on May 31, 2003. He previously worked for Clovelly Apartments in Nashua for 11 years and Alexander’s Supermarket. James was a police officer with the Newport Police Department being sworn in on Feb. 1981.

He married Victoria M. (Trombley) McClellan on June 15, 2001 and she died on October 12, 2009.

The family includes one daughter, Brenda Hannah; two sons, Kevin McClellan and Gary McClellan; one brother, Wayne McClellan; one stepson, Steven Sippel and one stepdaughter, Laurie Sippel Murphy.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 17th at 11AM in the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont with Pastor Priscilla Hull, officiating. 

Friends and family may call from 10 to 11 am prior to the service. 

Interment will follow in Ascutneyville Cemetery, Ascutney, VT.
