Josephine Ann Hynes, 81 of West Unity, N.H. died at home Thursday June 7, 2012. She was born July 29, 1930 in New York City, N.Y., the daughter of Ambrose and Pauline (Kuftiak) Frankowski and was one of eight children. Josephine was raised in Manhattan where she attended St. Mary Clemens Grammar School and graduated from Textile High School. From the time of graduating she was employed as a switchboard operator at New York Telephone Company until marriage in 1953.

Josephine was an avid seamstress, who also knitted beautiful articles which remain precious keepsakes. Moving from the suburbs of Long Island, N.Y. to New Hampshire in 1987, she loved looking after her flower and vegetable gardens and dreaming up the next great recipe to cook for family and friends.

Josephine was predeceased June 23, 2011 by her husband of 58 years, Thomas Aquinas Hynes.

Surviving family members include four children; her son, Thomas Hynes and his wife Sherri, of Newark Valley, NY, daughter Gail Kropp and her husband John, of West Babylon, NY, daughter Deborah Logerfo and her husband Ronald, of Charlestown, and son Robert Hynes and his wife Gail, of Charlestown. Grandchildren Michael, Jessica, Cara, Nicole, Charlene, Katherine, Doreen, and Thomas Jr., Great grandchildren Ryan, Samantha, Jason, Madison, Lindsay, and Grace. Additionally, her sister Frances Reska of NY, and brothers Walter Frankowski of NJ, Robert Frankowski of NY, and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont on Monday evening from 6-8 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning, June 12th at Eleven O’clock in the St. Joseph Church with Rev. Father Stanley J. Piwowar, officiating.

Interment will follow in the St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Charlestown, NH.
