Margaret Alice Mace, 88, of Old Stage Coach Road in Cornish, NH, died in Cornish on November 17, 2012. She was born in Lyndon Center, VT on January 24, 1924, the daughter of John and Sara (Randall) Rock. Her family had moved to Cornish in the 1930’s and she had attended Cornish School and Stevens High School. She had worked at Cone Automatic in Windsor during World War II, she had previously worked at the Claremont Nursing Home as a nurses aide and in the housekeeping department at Valley Regional Hospital. Margaret loved to garden and always had beautiful flowers, she especially loved iris’s. Her home always had african violets in many colors. She was a very gifted quilter and had designed and made some very beautiful quilts. She and her husband Fred enjoyed making and dressing cloth dolls. Mrs. Mace was a member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas in Windsor, VT and a member of the Lebanon Senior Center. The family includes two sons, Lawrence “Larry” Duval and his wife, Jean of Cornish and Paul Duval and his wife, Beverly of Cornish; one daughter, Donna Therrien-Rudder of Concord and her husband Les Rudder of England; one sister, Phyllis McKenney of Claremont; one brother, Phillip Rock of Cornish; five grandchildren, Michael Duval and his wife, Linda of Cornish, Krista Duval and Nicholas Taylor of Unity, Shane Therrien of Concord, Shawna Therrien of Irasburg, VT and Dawn Crate of Enfield; six great-grandchildren, Rain Therrien of Irasburg, VT Meaghan and Molly Taylor of Unity, Emma and Zachary Therrien of Concord and Nicole Crate of Enfield, NH, also several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by her first husband, Robert Duval in 1972; her second husband, Frederick Mace 1995; three brothers, Russell Rock, her twin brother, John “Jack” Rock and Cedric Rock; one sister, Charlotte Brooks. Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, NH, Wednesday morning from 10-11AM prior to the Mass A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Francis Church of Assisi in Windsor, VT on Wednesday, November 21st at 11:30 AM with Rev. Father Mosher, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery in Windsor, VT. The family suggests that donations may be made in her memory to the Connecticut Valley Home Care/Hospice, 958 John Stark Highway, Newport, NH 03773-2609. |
