Michael A.  Moote Sr., of Old Newport Road in Claremont, died Tuesday, January 24th 2012, at the VA Hospital in White River Junction, VT.

He was born the son of Charles and Rosa (Dagenais) Moote in Proctorsville, VT on November 18, 1948.

Michael served in the Army from 1968 to 1970.  He was a Vietnam War Veteran, highly decorated for his time in service to our country.

He owned and operated Moote Logging, carrying the tradition through four generations.

He married Bettijo Boivin on March 11, 1972 and together they have four children, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He had many hobbies, he loved hunting and his two horses, Ned and Sundance.

Mike loved his friends and family.  His grandchildren were his passion.  Mike had many stories he loved to share.  He was known for always having a smile and took the time to make people feel very special.  He loved knowing that he could convince his grandchildren that he knew JOHN WAYNE and together they served in the CIVAL WAR.

He was loved by many, and left a footprint on the heart of those that knew him.  He was larger than life and he will be missed.

His family includes his wife Bettijo, two sons; Michael A. Moote Jr. and his wife, Jodi (Jarvis), and Charles H. Moote, II and his wife, Jodi (Bunnell); two daughters, Katijo and her husband, William Deane, Rosalyn Moote and her boyfriend, Ken Dumont; three brothers, Robert Moote of Newport, NH, Bruce Moote and his wife Donnah of Phoenix, AZ, and Wayne Moote of Antrim, NH; six sisters, Delphia Moscartolo of Attleboro, MA, Rebecca Revior and her husband, Ron of Claremont, NH, Patricia Bourque and her husband, Michael of Laporte, TX, Jean Porter and her husband, Roger of Houston, TX, Zora Desmarais and her husband, Richard of Guilford, ME, and Helen Whittaker of Newport, NH; eleven grandchildren, Molly Conroy, Sarah Carrier, Emily and Brooke Deane, Reily and Josie Moote, Parker, Brady, and Cooper Moote, Zachary and Haley Dumont; one great grandchild, Alivia Conroy; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one sister, Shirley Maynard and one brother, George Moote.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 12 PM at the Moose Lodge on Broad Street in Claremont
