Nadja “Hope” Porter, 90, of Earl Bourdon Center, Claremont died Tuesday January 31, 2012 at the Elm Wood Center in Claremont.

She was born in Claremont on April 23, 1921 the daughter of Aphanasi and Alexandria (Vaherna) Obymako

Hope had worked at Encore Shoe for many years and was most proud to be able to do the stitching on the boots for the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders.  She loved to sew and all her loved ones prized their Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls made with love from Grammy.  Her family was her life.

She had married Arthur Clifford Porter on October 19, 1940 and he passed away on October 1, 2002.

The family includes; one son, Robert A. and his wife, Anita (Morin) Porter of Lempster; one daughter, Pamela Ann and her husband, Wendel Nichols of Gilsum; two granddaughters, Hilary Porter of Lempster, Jennifer and her husband, Charles Taylor, Jr. of Wilmington, NC; two grandsons, Jeffrey Porter of Wilmington, NC and Joshua Nichols of Savannah, GA; three great grandchildren, Charles F. Taylor, II, Caroline Taylor and Jules Porter all of Wilmington, NC; four sisters, Olga Obymako of Sunnyside Long Island, NY, Sophie Chandler of Claremont, Rose Fisher of Manchester, Lillian Lawrence of Claremont; one brother, Paul Obymako of Claremont.

She was pre-deceased by one sister, Mary Siwek and one brother, Michael Obymako.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 11th at eleven o’clock in the morning at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, NH with Scott Kearns, Associate Pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. 

Visiting hours will be held from 10-11 prior to the service.

Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Claremont.

A reception will be held at the First Baptist Church hall on Main Street, Claremont.
