Peter R. Jewell, Sr., 68, of Charlestown, died Tuesday evening, September 4, 2012 at Brookside Nursing Home in White River Junction, VT

He was born in Lewiston, Maine on March 6, 1944 the son of Dorothy (Hawkins) and Oswell Jewell.

Peter had previously resided in Monmouth, Maine with his parents and had attended Monmouth Academy. 

At the age of 17 he joined the Navy.

Peter had worked several construction jobs when he first came to NH and then he went to work for the Charlestown Highway Department, where he later became the road agent. 

The family includes his wife, Ella (Tallman) Jewell of Charlestown, whom he married on February 2, 1976; five step-daughters, Linda Snide and her husband, Jim, Louella Snide and her partner, William Adams, LouAnn Chapdelaine, Lisa Fitzpatrick all of Charlestown and Laura Russell and her husband, Edwin of Maine; two sons, Peter R. Jewell, Jr. of CT and Jake Cohen of NH; two sisters, Katherine Jewell and Faye Russell both of Maine; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great great grandson and many very close friends.

He was pre-deceased by an infant daughter and an eight year old nephew. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 9^th at 3:00 PM at the Charlestown Congregational Church on Main Street in Charlestown.
