Russell Horton Pope, Jr. passed away on July 30, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 29, 1949, the son of Russell H. Pope, M.D. and Louise Pope, R.N. He attended several prestigious New England universities and held degrees in Criminal Psychology, Cross-Cultural Sociology and Existential Phenomenology. Until 1981 he worked for three federal agencies and a private think tank. In 1982 he moved to New Hampshire and married Nora Cecilia Kline. From 1986-2006 he worked in N.H. Law Enforcement for The Monadnock Humane Society, Upper Valley Humane Society and River Valley Animal Protection League. His specialty was Animal Cruelty Prosecution. He is survived by a sister, Susan Pope of Charlestown, a nephew Aaron Brown of Claremont and his friend and companion Jessie Pollock of Peterborough.
