Ruth Marie (Checker) Booth, 77, of Charlestown, NH (formerly of Erie, PA) passed away on September 27, 2012 at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital Hospice Care Unit surrounded by family members including her loving husband of almost 58 years. She was born on January 26, 1935 in Titusville, PA. The daughter of deaf parents, the late Vincent and Marie (Proper) Checker, she signed and often relayed radio play-by-play action of baseball games for her father who loved baseball. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in Titusville, PA, where she was a cheerleader. Ruth married Cpl. Robert Booth, U.S. Army, in 1954. She was a homemaker and a wonderful wife & mother who was devoted to her family. She enjoyed cooking, ballroom dancing, word puzzles/games and penny slots. She is survived by her husband, Robert Booth; children: Sheryl Kern, Erie, PA, Lorraine (Bob) Mills Arlington, OH, Cindy (Redus) Boykin, Erie, PA, & Robert B. Booth, Stratham, NH; 12 grandchildren: Redus (Jessica) Thomas, Diondra (Curtis) Grundy, Jon (Christine) Kern, Jen Boykin, Dustin (Angela) Mills, Jerome (Keisha) Boykin, Kristen (Jon) Kern, Sarah Mills, David Mills, Jacob Booth, Emily Grim, & Emma Booth; two great-grandchildren: Timothy Boykin & Lily Kern; a sister, Margaret & John Seep, Buffalo, NY; brother- and sisters-in-law: Don & Ellen Booth, Betty Conners, & Carol Bigley. She was predeceased by her sister, Emmy Briggs. The family extends an invitation to join them for a memorial service and a meal on Saturday, October 6, at 5:00 p.m. at Luther Memorial Church (luthermemorialonline.org), 225 W. 10th St., Erie, PA.
