Sharon Christie, 67, of Cornish Turnpike, Newport, died Tuesday afternoon, July 3, 2012 at the Hospice House in Concord, NH . She was born in Worcester, MA on November 15, 1944 the daughter of Philip and Helen (Granquist) Holm. She had taught school in Newport, was the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Dartmouth College, the Administrative Assistant to the Town Manager in Newport for several years and had finished her career teaching in Sunapee as a life skills and consumer science teacher. She loved spending time on Martha’s Vineyard and reading books on the beach. Sharon loved working on crafts and had also knitted hats for newborns and donated them to area hospitals. The surviving family includes her husband David A. Christie of Newport, whom she married on October 26, 1974; one son, Mathew Christie of Newport; one daughter, Andrea Gendron and her husband, Joel of Roslindale, MA; one grandson, Sam Gendron of Roslindale, MA; one sister, Susan Tierney of Keene, NH; one brother, Stephen Holm of Worcester, MA; one sister-in-law, Susan Smith of Newport, nieces, nephews and her beloved dog Winston. Visiting hours will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, NH on Saturday morning July 7th from 10-11:30 AM. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 in the funeral home with Rev. Donna Leslie, pastor of the Croydon Flat Church in Croydon, NH. The family suggests that donations may be made in her memory to the Concord Regional Visiting Nurses Association Hospice House, 240 Pleasant Street, Concord, NH 03301. |
