Verlie J. Washburn, 91, formerly of Arnold Court in Charlestown, died Saturday afternoon, November 3, 2012 at the Sullivan County Health Care in Unity, NH. She was born on February 9, 1921 in Brookfield, VT, the son of Leon and Jane (Kirkpatrick) White. Verlie worked as a Registered Nurse at various hospitals in NH and VT, finishing her career with the Visiting Nurses Association. Verlie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, as well as a caregiver to many. She enjoyed bird watching and many outings with the birding club in Charlestown, NH. She loved puzzles and truly enjoyed visiting with all. She and her husband loved their huge vegetable garden as well as canning and freezing it. Verlie volunteered her time at the Up Attic at the Congregational Church. She also researched the Washburn genealogy. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Verlie married her husband, Howard W. Washburn on April 10, 1943 and he passed away on September 22, 1994. The family includes one daughter, Ardyce J. Pelton and her husband, Paul of Madbury, NH; three sons, Scott W. Washburn and his wife, Sandra of Charlestown, NH, Russell L. Washburn of Laconia and Harry L. Washburn of Goshen, IN; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon, November 8th at 1:30 PM at the Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main Street in Charlestown with Peter Howe, officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery, Charlestown, NH. Visiting hours will be held from 1-1:30 PM, prior to the service. |
