Yvette F. Arel, 98, wife of the late Albert J. Arel and beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully with family beside her on May 1^st, 2012 at Woodlake at Tolland, Tolland, CT.

Yvette, daughter of Albertine and William Theroux, was born on November 4, 1913 and raised in Holyoke, MA.  After her marriage to Albert, the great love of her life, they made their home and raised their family in Claremont, NH, where she lived for over 50 years.  In her 90’s, Yvette resided with her sister, Claire, in South Hadley, MA until 2010 when she moved to Tolland.  Yvette was devoted to her large and loving family, serving as an unending source of love, support, humor and faith to all who knew her.

She leaves behind a large, loving family of five children: Annette Garrow of Melbourne FL, Normand and Janice Arel of Tolland, CT, Gerald and Karen Arel of Kennebunk, ME, Diane and Steve Chiasson of Claremont, NH, Cecile and Jack Healy of Charlestown, NH, 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.  She also leaves behind her dear sister, Claire Connolly, now of Chicopee, MA, three sisters-in-law, Lucia Gilbert and Dorothy Arel both of Claremont, NH, Jennie Theroux of Agawam, MA, a brother-in-law, Wilfrid Arel of Tolland, CT and many dear nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her son-in-law, L. Arthur Garrow of Claremont, NH and a very special niece, Jeanine Connolly of South Hadley, MA as well as 15 brothers and sisters-in-law.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sandals and the staff at Woodlake at Tolland for the excellent care and support given to Yvette and her family while she resided there.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 4^th from 6:00 to 8:00PM at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, NH. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, Central St., Claremont, NH on Saturday, May 5^th at 10:00AM with Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

The family suggest donations be made in Yvette’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
