Betsy H. Weston, 93, formerly of Marquis Avenue, Claremont, died Friday, Morning, May 10th at the Seasons at Summercrest in Newport. She was born in Keene, NH on May 8, 1920 the daughter of Thomas B. and Ethel (McFarland) Holmes. Betsy graduated from Keene High School and attended Bouve School of Physical Education in Boston. She served as a technician in Elliot Hospital before enlisiting in the United States Navy in 1943 where she served for three years. Betsy loved her golf and won numerous championships including the VT state amateur title in 1974. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing and playing tennis. Betsy is the widow of Henry M. Weston who died in 1993. The family includes two daughters, Sally Teague and her husband, Thomas of Unity and Mary Hamilton of Newbury, VT; one grandson, William B. Hamilton and his wife, Kelly of Atlanta, GA; one daughter-in-law, Sandra Weston of Vail, AZ; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Thomas M. Weston in 2009; two brothers, Thomas Holmes and Denman Holmes; one sister, Mary Packard. A celebration of life for Betsy will be held on Monday July 1st at New Socials Bar and Grill on Pleasant Street in Claremont from 4 to 6 pm.
