Betty Jane Westerling of Michael Avenue, in Charlestown died on Thursday evening, August 1, 2013 at the Elm Wood Center at Claremont. 

She was born in Norwalk, CT, the daughter of Harry and Hazel (Tallmadge) DeWeil.

She was educated in Connecticut Schools and graduated from Merrill Business College.

Betty was the head of the Admitting office at the Norwalk Hospital for 22 years.

She was a member of the Charlestown Women’s Club and Charlestown Senior Center for many years. She was a member of the Barn Browsers and volunteered at Fort#4.

She was an animal lover and had several pets throughout her lifetime.

Betty loved to spend time with her family and will be greatly missed.

Her family includes a daughter, Marla Jane Wisehart and her husband, Tom of Salem, CT; a son, Thomas William Westerling and his wife, Meg of Acworth; two grandsons, Attorney Thomas Charles Wisehart and his wife, Melissa of Aurora, CO and Thomas William Westerling, the 3^rd of Hampton; two granddaughters, Heidi Jane Westover and her husband, Rob of Walpole and Amy Jane Wisehart of Aiken, SC and a cousin, Robert Searles of Norwalk, CT.

Funeral services will be held at the Charlestown Memorial Chapel on Main Street in Charlestown on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Two O’clock in the afternoon with Pastor Harold Noyes.

Visiting hours will be one hour prior to the services.

Burial will follow in the Acworth Cemetery.
