Dorothea “Dottie” Clara Weeks, 93, of 69 Weeks Road, South Charlestown NH passed away peacefully on March 5th 2013 at the Springfield Hospital in Springfield VT.

She was born in Quincy, MA on November 17th, 1919, the daughter of Leo and Eleanor Abbott. She was raised and attended schools in Medford MA and moved to Charlestown in 1941. She briefly worked at Jones and Lamson (J&L) in Springfield, VT (where she met her future husband) and Walpole Wire in North Walpole, NH.

Dorothea is the widow of Raymond D. Weeks whom she married on Dec 13th 1942. He passed away on May 15th, 2000. They raised their family and resided in South Charlestown, NH for over 60 years. She was a homemaker and thoroughly enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothea and Raymond traveled to many States over the years to visit their children and families. Her most favorite place to visit however was South Charlestown, NH. Dorothea enjoyed crocheting dollies, making quilts, sewing, cooking, playing cards and Bingo. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Charlestown, NH. Dorothea accepted people for who they were and never had a negative thing to say about any one.

The family includes her children, Raymond D. Weeks Jr and his wife, Susan of Charlestown, James A. Weeks and his wife, Colleen of Charlestown, Donald L. Weeks and his wife, Rhonda of Coeur d’Arlene, ID, Alice L. Welch and her husband, Michael of Westminster, VT; a step brother, Edward Carlson of North Clarendon, VT; a brother-in-law, Richard Gorton in Springfield, VT; 10 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond D. Weeks; her father, Leo Abbott; her mother, Eleanor Abbott; her step-mother, Lena W. Abbott; two sisters, Eleanor McCormack and Ruth Abbott; a step-brother, Frank Carlson; two step-sisters, Olive Jeblick and Emma Asdot.

The family wishes to acknowledge the staff at Springfield Hospital for their kindness and exceptional care shown to Dorothea.

Graveside committal service will be held on Saturday, May 11th at 11:00AM in Forest Hills Cemetery in Charlestown with Heidi Smith, officiating.
