Eleanor G. Woodard, 92, of Claremont, died on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Valley Regional Hospital.

She was born in Newport, NH on February 12, 1921 the daughter of Archie M. and Hazel E. (Harvey) Sanborn.

Eleanor was a 1939 graduate of Towle High School and was a veteran of World War II had served in the Women’s Army Corps.

She had worked for the M.V.M. Corp in Washington DC as a waitress for 17 years and had retired in 1980.

Eleanor is the widow of Dean M. Woodard.

The family includes three daughters, Brenda (Colby) Saunders of Claremont, Donna (Colby) Rochette of Tyngsboro, MA, and Naomi (Woodard) Willis of Norfolk, VA; three grandchildren, Beth (Rochette) Zis and her husband, Steve of Pelham, NH, Andrew Rochette and his wife, Gail of Tyngsboro, MA, Christine (Saunders) Record and her husband, Robert of Contoocook, NH; two step-grandchildren, Phyllis (Saunders) Gagnon and her husband, Raymond of Claremont, Paula (Saunders) Simmonds and her fiancé, Charlie Cross of Sebago, ME; numerous great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews

She was predeceased by two sisters, Phyllis E. Raey and Eunice V. Hobbs; three brothers, John M. Sanborn, Richard E. Sanborn and Ray H. Sanborn and her former husband Phillip Richard Colby.

There will be no visiting hours.

Graveside services will be held in Mountain View Cemetery in Claremont on Friday, October 4th at 2:00 PM in the afternoon with Pastor David Crosby.
